food and drink ...
Hugh you've got a cracking memory - I couldn't have pulled all of those names and places from the tumbleweed filled space that is my head! Lots of memories and no names to put to them. I do remember a winter's day in Oxford, lunch at the Petit Blanc followed by a stroll through the colleges ... it was misty and very atmospheric ...and then did we go to see the ENO's production of ...The Pirates of Penzance? (With Nicolas Grace - he came into L'Escargot not long after and was very enthusiastic talking about htat particular performance ...think it was the end of a run or something ..) Possibly two different days ... I do remember it with fondness though particularly as Dad had not long died and I was really in need of surrogate family!!
Lots of memories too especially in France ... sitting outside eating at Frejus caravan site ... and somewhere in Northern France a waiter teasing me because of my 'correct' pronunciation ...and Julian losing his credit cards!? I seem to remeber that being a bit of a flap.
I'm always thinking of food too Hugh, except when I'm thinking about whether to have a glass of wine or not ... not always that hard a choice - it's a wonderful way to put aside several hours of working with other people's pain (I know I have an odd vocation!!) ... love it as I do I still need a nice glass of chianti on my return to my own world. It's lovely to be in touch with you in this way - and I'm looking forward to hearing more of everyone's exploits. love to all of you who know me ... Barbara R
